what grease / coating do you guys use when installing a barrel nut / ff tube on an ar15 ?

do you also use it on castle nut as well ??

first time installing barrel and curious what lube you use or antiseize type product.... built many lowers but never used anything but loc tite on the castle nut (always properly staked them as well).... but now curious if i should have used a product on the threads.

None at all on the barrel nut, this will give you the most accurate torque spec possible. I don't recommend anything on the castle nut as well. Some companies like noveske recommend an anti seize on the barrel nut but it is not a necessity.

Aeroshell 33MS is the tried and true product that most people swear by. It's a moly grease, but honestly, while Aeroshell is the shiz pretty much any decent high-pressure moly grease will do.

And yes, you should definitely use a grease; it's called for in the rifle's original spec as steel (barrel nut) and aluminium (receiver) don't play nice together at the torque settings required of an AR barrel nut.

Just put any old cheap priced anti seize on it and save your money for more ammo.
It will do just fine.
Or you can buy some space craft grade unicorn paste at 5 times the price for no reason. It's really your call!

Any brand of anti seize on the barrel nut and the barrel before inserting to allow proper torquing and the ability of disassembling in the future. The castle nut doesn't require any lube or high torque.
