The idea :
Install a rail on the bottom of the stock, then mount a grip on said rail.
It would have to be ahead of the mag well far enough to not interfere with mag operation.

Anyone try this already? Any insight? Will the mystery wood hold?

Or :

Any other concepts for a front grip I may be overlooking are welcome as well.

Guys have installed rails on the bottom by using the front sling swivel plate or a plate bolted or riveted in the same place. This is usually for a bipod. It would be too far forward for a front vertical grip, and I am not sure if a longer rail achored only at the front would be strong enough. Haven't tried it myself though.

I would be inclined to get a GI fibreglass stock to put rail on.

Fiberglass would be the way to go, but my budget for this project is very limited and I am willing to improvise.

On the topic of grips, anyone with one want to share thoughts on recoil handling before and after addition of the grip?
