Installing new FAB hardware for VZ-58 questions.

Greetings folks, First of all i apologize if this has been answered already , i have googled and i have read thru the forums , but i just cant seem to find the answers.

I have recently purchased some fantastic FAB gear from RAUNCH TATICAL.
I ordered a pistol grip and upper and lower handgaurd for my VZ-58 and i have two or three questions regarding installation.
1) In regards to the pistol grip,does one have to make a insert(piece of tube/pipe slightly larger diameter of retaining/tension bolt perhaps) in order to properly snug up the grip, or use a shorter bolt/screw not supplied?
OR is there some other trick? The original wood grip has wood shelf/insert 1/4 inch from the base of the grip that allows the bolt and washer to snug up against it, and tighten grip.
2) In regards to the upper handgaurd how do i remove orginal wood/plastic from metal insert/heat gaurd, without damaging anything.
Ive seen many post where people have done some real nice jobs spiffing up their VZ's with the same hardware , im hoping to learn from your experience,

1) You need a new screw that is not supplied by FAB.

2) I bent down a couple of metal tabs, which allowed the tube to slide out. However I have read that there may be a couple of different attatchment methods depending on exactly which model of CZ or VZ that you have...someone else with an encyclopedic understanding of this issue will probably correct me and sort you out.
 
2) yes, there is two types of retainers , the first is a simple leaf spring and the other is the two tab . dont to do anything with the spring but with the two tab , gently bend then down and then inwards , do it slow cos you need to reuse the tabs , if you snap them off , no biggie you can do without it.

then pull the locking pin of the top HG cos you are gonna us it for leverage , grab the presto log Hg with the left hand and you right hand grab the locking pin which is extended and rotate forward and backward , till the presto log HG slides out.
 
Thanks for the info , after posting last night i couldnt go to sleep with my rifle the way it was.I figured out most of it......sort of
So mine was the two tab system(upper HG) was so leary of bending the tabs because they did lookso soft.....and i only broke one...when bending it back.
I was able to get the new upper gaurd on and it fit soooo good!
The lower was straight forward just a punch to start the pin on the lower handgaurd and she swung right out with a bit of torque.

With the pistol grip i ended up dismantling a old metal pen and cut it to length , i used this as a spacer.
This allowed me to use original bolt to attach pistol grip and it is snug pretty good but is not as solid as they old wood grip . The old wood grip had the tension of the bolt at a point 5/6th the down the grip(the tension on the bolt/screw would pull the whole grip snug) The way i have it now, it is snug and will hold but ican tell that most of the torque would be at the mating point of the grip and the reciever , any undo leverage on the grip would cause at lot of shearing or bending force on the screw/bolt . Even if i used a shorter screw this problem would remain.
So i believe that if i make a insert that will fit low in the base of the grip i can strengthen the grip with liitle fear of shearing off the screw/bolt.

I will post some pics of my progress and idea in a while because im sure my description would benefit much from pictures.

For the pistol grip a 25mm long M6 bolt with a washer is the way to go. I think for the next shipment of pistol grips I'm gonna order the fasteners to go with them. You will find that the FAB grip with the proper bolt is very sturdy.
 
Thanks i will pick one up , again great product. And the FAB grip is solid indeed , it has a great feel and fits my hand much better than the wood.
