Recently picked up a remington 870 express magnum, and I want to install a quick detachable swivel base on it for a sling. It is a synthetic. I took a look on the inside of the butt end, and I'm not sure if there is enough "meat" in there for the screw of the swivel base to hold onto.

Still thinking of installing it, but will cemeting the screw in as well. Anyone have any other suggestions or experience in this? What would be the best way?

Thanks

Was think of doing the exact thing, but using an epoxy. Not that I think that would make that much of a difference really. Just concerned about the synthetic stalk being strong enough to hold the screw in, and not getting pulled out.

If you can get inside the stock, use one of the QD style studs that utilize a nut on the machine threads. If the nut does not not sit flush with the inside of the stock (bevelled), file the nut to fit the bevel and then loctite the threads.
