But this time It'll be a positive rant.

Just took my Restricted PAL afternoon course/test at The ShootingEdge, an was really pleased with how the whole thing went. Barry was a really good instructor.. very clear and articulate. We hit all the course material, but Barry was really good about which things to go through quickly and where to spend more time. And his gun handling habits were impeccable, and seemingly second nature, which was a great example for myself and the rest of the students there.

All in all, a real interesting and worthwhile 4 hours... nice job TSE.

Nope.. not Barrys Mum. Just thought that for all the times on this forum that folks rail about not getting there moneys worth from some dealer, or getting sh***y customer service.. that I would comment on someone doing somethong right. Sorry to dissapoint the rant fans.;)

barry was practilly born with gun in hand- he's been shooting since cadets, and probably before that-nigh on 35 or so years- and i've passed your comments along- it's in the gene pool- his dad was manitoba- sask trap and skeet champ back in the 50's- we've got the cups to prove it- i be his older by a couple of years

I was at the PAL/RPAL course this weekend too. Jay was the instructor, but my tester was Barry. I only have good things to say about both of them, the instruction was excellent.

Rant

Glad to see People like Barry are getting the credit they should.I have had the pleasure of having many talks with the instructors at TSE and they really serve the shooting community.Keep up the good work boys,Take care.

I agree TSE has changed dramatically in the last six months. I don't mind going in to shop now. Before there was apathy and profanity from the counter staff. Now the store is tidy, shelves have interesting quality products and the staff is pleasant and helpful. I had a question that staff could not answer and a petite mature woman helped me out. She was extremely well spoken and as professional as could be. She took me on a tour and both my friend and I have since taken the PAL course and bought Fabarms. What she was unsure about she had the Swiss gunsmith answer our questions. Then she walked us to the door. Such quality service is unheard of these days but I will certainly be referring TSE to more of my friends and neighbors now. Well done!

Mr Trout.. I don't know what /k/ or 4chan means. I just stole the avatar because I liked the spastic face screaming "FFFUUUUUUU"

So, what is this crazy language you speak??

Thanks for all the positive comments, it's nice to see our efforts are appreciated!

I know Barry peruses CGN from time to time, but I'll mention it again next time I see him in person.

PS./k/ is a frightening place.

you must be a friend of the owner

sorry I feel they have a long way to go in customer service,i'm still waiting for a set of grips for a colt 1911a orderd a year a go i called p&d and had them in the mail 3 days later, and as for what they charge for a membership I think they need someone to open up and give them a run for their money I'd take the range at sheperd any day

well, the firing line was around for years before tse, and i'm glad that mr cox LEARNED LESSONS from that operation - on what NOT to do-as to the range at shepard- it's apples and oranges- one is just a field with an shanks pony retreval system( means you go down and change the targets yourself) and lose brass all over the place- and subject to weather conditions, the other is an ENCLOSED space with no wind, with a state of the art retreval system, and it's in town- but you can't please everybody all the time- the reason the membership fees are so high is mostly what the owner has to pay for the building , maintaince, and taxes- ie the commercial tax base for calgary is far higher than shepard, which is county of something taxes- same deal as the indus airstrip is far cheaper than springbank to stable your aircraft- as to the grips , what made them so special-?- wss handles pachmyr, and you can get hogues on line

yes I can imagine the overhead they have but for the cost difference I'll walk back and forth, nothing special about the grips just a set of hogues. They just have no follow up.I've never been treated well there and they have lost at least 8 gun sales from me pro-line shooters is far better to deal with
