Is there an intelligent, reliable, affordable way to mount a small fixed scope on SKS? My research leads me to believe that most mounts don't hold zero....!?

WARTAK or Magwedge scope rails are your best option and a quick takedown pin makes for cleaning after shooting very simple work.

Magwedge rail.

Been on this gun for years now, holds zero just fine. My go to bush gun.

Pro-mag makes a side receiver Choate style mt , but with full length rail for max scope position options........Harold

Addley Precision scope mounts are great quality CNC machined mounts made here in Canada. They hold zero perfect and also allow you to use your iron sights with 45 degree offsets for both left and right handed shooters. They are available for the SKS and nearly all surplus rifles from the Lee Enfield to the K98 Mauser.

Our store currently carries these mount for the SKS for $139.99

Check them out at Addley Precision also -> http://addleyprecision.com/product/sks-scope-mount/

the Magwedge is easy to install? How does it attach to the front sight area?

You remove the rear sight by depressing the tension spring under the sight and sliding the sight rearward toward the receiver. The pivot point doesn't actually go all the way through the holes on either side, and is held in place by tension.

The Magwedge is held in place by a roll-pin threaded through the holes on either side and a hole in the front of the rail. All in, you're looking at about a 2 minute time investment for that part.

Yeah....but 11 holes to D&T to mount it?
Seems excessive lol

B.C. Tactical makes a nice scout-style mount. No D&T.

I have wondered about just screwing a Weaver mount onto the rear sight arm. Then put a little red dot on it.

I love mine. all the advantages of a red dot (IMHO a red dot is better suited for a sks than a scope), out of the way for strippers, takedown not impacted and quite slick looking. Installs in a few minutes, easily reversable and very reasonably priced.

My trs25 I have mounted eventually cracked from the ejects. I could do an ejection mod but I'd rather use the recommended styled red dot like a fastfire, venom or First Strike.

As others have said: side-mount drill and tap.

It's about the best way going. Any of that pin-on stuff is just going to have to be taken off every time you want to clean your SKS, which strikes me as a needless pain.

Just avoid see-through mounts or anything stupidly high over the bore, they look ridiculous and aren't even remotely practical, IMO.

That is the most ridiculous contraption I have ever seen.

Good point Tyler. The removal of the pin can affect poi, which is not a big deal if you use non corrosive. The minus to the sidemounts is they require drilling and tapping your rifle, which isn't a big deal to some, and your poi should stay the same.

Ganderite is 100%...I have two MagWedges on mine...and I like them...they are great for what they are...but I did not like the pins and now I have bolts in their stead and it has just become a daunting task to unscrew everything to clean...Dd & Td are what I may go to...
