1-2 rounds out of 20 the bolt will not want to close down. It will push the bullet forward. i reject this round , reload and it closes fine..Now if i force the bolt to close on these select rounds the sholuder gets mushroomed.. WHY???I have tested all my ammo and all work fine(all factory) out of 80 rounds i had 3 where the bolt will not close, again i eject and reload all fine.. :mad:I love this rifle , shoots very well.. corey.

It looks some of your rounds got crimped too much from the looks of the rolled shoulder. It's strange that only 3 of 80 would end up this way.

What ammo, what rifle, what caliber? Looks like the chamber might be a tight neck and the factory cases could be a little too thick.

22-250 Interarms Mark x rifle mauser 98 action. factory Win ammo 55 gr psp both boxes same Lot#. no marks on the bullet from lands, empty cases look fine, this rifle hasn't seen alot of shells. it shoots great no weird flyers, maybe throat issue. i just live fed 35 rounds no issue with the same 55 gr psp.

If you have a vernier or 0-1" micrometer measure the diameter of the neck on a fired case and a loaded round. A fired case will spring back about .002" smaller than the chamber.

I don't think your rifle damaged those cases, I think they were made that way at the factory. Your rifle does not have the required camming ability to deform a loaded case that way.

Sounds like the rifle has insufficient headspace. Try remington ammo, it's the sloppiest. A tight chamber is not the end-of the world.

Are you feeding from the magazine?? Could be they are single fed and the extractor isn't climbing over the rim. Mark

I was ready to agree with this idea, but if the forward movement of the cartridge is stopped by the shoulder against the chamber wall, chambering the cartridge ahead of the extractor should not push the bullet deeper into the case and deform the shoulder. While I don't normally disagree with Guntech, I don't see how a guy could miss noticing the expanded shoulder and inconsistent bullet seating depth as he loaded his rifle from a new box of factory ammo. I think the best bet is that there are throat issues with the rifle's chamber. Perhaps its a match chamber that requires the necks to be turned, or perhaps is was simply a bad chamber that has an insufficient lead.
