Anybody else own one of these chambered in .270 Win? I have one but haven't done lots of shooting with it and I am curious as to what kind of ammo they like. Any input would be appreciated, thanks!

I don't have a 270, but I have one in a single shot 243 heavy barrel. The action is just like the good'ol Remmy 40XB. It shoots amazingly, I love it.

Meaning the mag well is solid, as of the action it's as you say, the commercial mauser.

Mark X

I have a fullstock 308 WIN. Shoots great and has the 98 K dependable action. Remington will marketing these actions with the big green name soon. Nice guns

Nope! the Remington guns are no longer Mauser 98 actions as we know them. Receiver geometry is the same, but to preserve the "3 rings of steel" concept, they are now PUSH FEED with the plunger ejector. No full length extractor claw either, just a guide rib in its place on the bolt.

I'm pretty disappointed about it, actually.

I have an Mark X in .243 and it seems to shoot everything well. It's a tack driver and a better shot than I am. If you ever want to sell it let me know. John

I have a full stock Mark X in .270. I don't remember offhand what I was using for powder, but I loaded some 140 gr Hornady Interlocks, and was very pleased with the results. I've also put a variety of commercial loads through it - 130's and 140's, and it seems to handle them all reasonably well (Read: "accuracy problems tend to be more shooter than gun related"). I seldom carry it when hunting, though it would certainly do the job. It's just that there are other favorites.
