So today was our annual youth waterfowl heritage day where kids aged 12-17 can hunt ducks and geese two weeks before hunting season.

There have bee a few anti-youth hunt guys that have expressed their opinions but no biggie, I think this is the 4th year of program.

4 years ago some guys blocked a road to a popular spot and wouldn't allow anyone in, this is of course illegal and a terrible thing to do to the kids, the next year nothing happened and the following year a few guys came down to work on their blinds as we were hunting. This year the ####ers posted a sign saying the area was baited. A quick call to the COs and it was decided that this was just a tactic to keep us out.

So this morning as we are driving in I run over a couple of 2X4s buried in the grass with some nails in them!!! 7 patches in my tires now, not to mention some creative work to get back to a road accessible by the tow truck! Thankfully my father's rims fit my vehicle.

Anyway, that's my story... roadside assistance covered my tow but the patching ran about $70.

What kind of hunter would do this ####?

Still a good day, saw a few ducks (didn't notice the flats until after the hunt) and the Mounties had no interest in looking at our guns or asking any irrelevent questions, even after having to walk in about 400 yds to my vehicle.

Sorry to hear what happened to you Bill c68. Good to see you still had a good time with the youth hunt.

There are greedy hunters, or jelous, or over protective, maybe done by anti's.

My guess is the 2x4 spiking wasn't done by a hunter, no hunter in his right mind would do someting like that to anyone. At least not by someone who uses the area cause they wouldn't have put the baited sign up.

How did the dog work out?:)

It was definitely a hunter, I even have 2 suspects.

I was even there until dark on friday and it was still dark on Saturday when we got there.

You could be right.
Antis are lost souls and minds , that cant do much on their own without leadership of some kind usually in larger groups(grazing mentality).

And because antis are generally spineless, you wont see them on their own doing spiteful things, so you would have seen them before dark last night.

Could very well be the ones you suspect, just be careful.....in acting outside of the law. No one want's to become like they are.:)
