Just curious if anyone knows who manufactured this primerless ammo. I have a bunch of it for displaying my stens and was allways curious who made it.

Any info would be greatly appreciated

It was made by Defence Industries, Brownsburg,Quebec ii 1942. It is a drill purpose ctg. It comes in three variations: bronze colour, plain brass and brass with three holes drilled in case.

Does this mean the case was designed and marked for DP only?

Example being did these marked cases ever have the primer and powder in it or where they allways DP ammo. Did some get filled and sent to the front and some DP'd?

thanks

Factory made as a drill purpose only round with no flash hole. Should be a wood distance piece in the case.

Back in the day you could go to Hercules army suplus and they had them in bins. They were 10 cents each and you would scoop them out with a big metal scoop like in the old hardware store days.

All the kids were buying candy I was buying ammo. Kept some lost most, found more at shows and from people here.

Great stuff for my stens

The 42 dated dummies has the extra band on the case to prevent the bullet from being driven into the shell with repeated loading. The 43 cases have the 3 little triangular stamps by the primer hole (which I thought meant that it had a primer installed at one time), and you can see the wood filler through the primer hole, so I always wondered if these were reused brass.
I think the holes drilled in the cases were a post war addition. On any of these shells I have seen in the weapons tech tool boxes, the chamfered edge of the holes are not tarnished like the rest of the case.
