Don't see why it wouldn't be reasonably accurate on a rimmed cartridge. Also, I would think a resized case should work fine.
For that matter, with a case gauge like the Stoney Point gauge, it should also check rimless cartridges. Close enough for checking to see if a gun is safe to shoot.
