Before I restored this 1950's BSA ISU rifle you could see various bands of colour in the wood , gold, yellow , tan , red , brown etc. It Was unique but fugly . Its still there , a little steel wool can bring it back . Research proved it was french walnut - a tree dating back to Napoleonic times . The differing bands of colour were due to the weather changes over the years in the region of France wear the tree grew.
