So I've been asking some questions lately about the Berger bullets fo my 243. I picked up some 95gr VLDs and loaded them up. I hit the range and noticed something a little intersting today.
To start, my Savage 12fv is sighted in with a Bushnell 3200 10x at 100 yards using the 65 grain Vmax over 40grains of Varget. Very nice groups on centre every time.
So I verify that I'm on centre and try some 95 gr SSTs that I also loaded up since I'm trying to find a heavy load to go with my Vmax load. I line up and wow... the 95 gr SST doesn't move an inch (up and down) from where the 65gr Vmax was hitting on the other target.
Now I try the Bergers and same thing, exactly the same as the 95gr SST and the 65 gr Vmax for vertical. They were about and inch off side to side but I was pretty interested in the fact they stayed centred up and own.
The Bergers and the SST's were laoded with 34 grains of Varget. Same load just different COL.
Now I didn't get a chance to try at 200 yards. I'm sure these results will change dramaticly but I thought I would share the experiance.
Hope everyone else had a good range day.
