Yes Wheaty we were making nothing (or at least I was) back then. The Ross would be more than a weeks pay.
But still, If I knew then what I know now........ I would have bought them all and eaten peanut butter sandwiches for a month

I remember International's catalogues. The thing was, the guns were cheap, but a lot of the guns in there were good or good-vg condition. Those of us looking for excellent items rarely saw them in their catalogues.
has that really changed for most people with the prices they seem to go for now?
i have some of these catalogues from the mid 80's, some of the stuff is cheap, some is not, IIRC chinese sks' were $200 (and this was pushing 25 years ago). it is the selection that drives a guy crazy.

The Johnsons were "beat" and I do mean beat. I bought a few and all had parts missing. The guns came out of Indonesia and were left there by the Dutch when they departed. Sights were in metres and wood was like a beaver had cut them out. Most metal was "quite proud" on the wood I can tell you. The barrels looked like a gopher hole but they did have a bit of finish if you looked hard. But then, ACME in Toronto had No.4 snipers at 99.99, Flatman had Lewis guns at $35.00 (with spare barrel and bolt) and Albion Arms had T guns at $79.95...no drums.

But the "ALBION Arms" (Peterborough) would make you weep heavily.

I believe these are late 1950s and possibly early 1960s.
Ironically the building that they used was turned into appartments and I lived there 30 years ago.
