Want to try something new this year. I've been looking into taking on Bunker trap. So a lot of the top shooters are shooting flat ribbed guns. Why is that anyway?

But the gun I have is a 682 Gold E X trap, although it doesn't have a super high rib, but it is pretty high, apparently it's designed for ATA trap.

But can I use it for bunker trap? For ATA Singles Trap I'm shooting from the bottom barrel, and I cover the target when I fire, so it's setup to not shoot too high.

When I recently watched some folks shooting Int'l Trap (bunker) in Arizona, some of the targets were coming out very low and fast, skimming the ground. If I were using a high ribbed/high shooting trap gun, I think that I would be in trouble. My K-80s have adjustable ribs and adjustable impact with both barrels, that would be my only hope of using a high ribbed/high impact gun on those tricky targets, just my personal observation, and I'm thinking a person might be better off with some sort of Sporting clays gun.

I shoot International Trap with a Beretta 682 Gold E X-Trap. Mine is set up to shoot 60/40. It works rather well, I like the high rib - I can see. The full choke tube throws a tight enough pattern with 24 gram loads to break targets at 60 meters.

A DT-10 has better feel and an MX 2003 is livlier, but I have never felt handicapped by the 682 E X-Trap. The gun did win an Olympic gold medal in doubles trap, how much better than that do you want?

Good to know. I can't afford to switch to DT-10 or MX 2003... I have gotten really comfortable with shooting the 682 Gold E X trap anyway. Thanks.
