Hi,
So i sent my photo, application, and completed exam with the stamp on it, registered mail.
that was a week ago, so im waiting for it to show up online in another week or so.

should i expect myself, plus both my references to get calls for interviews?
This is for non-restricted pal.
what questions would they typically be asked?
ive done both rcmp and opp background checks in the past as my employment takes me into controlled and sensitive buildings on a regular basis, so i dont have much concern over any that, just wondering what typically they might be asked or be ready to answer.

Thanks!

Don't worry about the questions, just answer them as best you can. You'll be fine. It's REALLY no big deal, just the last hurdle before they send you your PAL.

you probably won't get a interview for the non restricted basically they go like:

have you ever had thoughts of suicide
have you ever used violence to solve a situation
in the last three years has a significant relationship been ended
and it goes on...

I was one of the lucky few non-restricted applicants to be interviewed along with both my references. Which was annoying because I didn't think they would need to and one of my references was on vacation; but certainly not hard.

As Ruffian said expect lots of questions that are very similar to the ones on the forms you filled out. like "In the last 5 years have you or any of your family been convicted of a violent crime"

For me the hardest part was not to laugh as the interviewer read yet another long convoluted question to which I yet again answered "no"

LOL, thanks for the responses.
In otherwords we may not even be contacted, and if we do, they are flogging the proverbial dead horse over and over :)
Like I said, I've had all those background checks before, and filled out the forms, so how much more can they ask w:h:

For the RPAL, they asked my references if I liked violence. Whether I watched violent movies or youtube videos. They wanted to hear a situation in which I got angry.

They also asked if I had changed at all since I applied for the RPAL.

My references laughed at the questions as I really dont get mad. Haha..

I called about my eldest who is upgrading from a minor permit to PAL. When I asked about any delays because I hadn't been called for references, I was told if it was for a PAL, they won't be calling. However, for my nephew a year ago, I did get a call and spoke with one of the nice ladies at the CFC (and yes, they were pleasant). Basically, they read the questions that are on the application.

For the RPAL, it took 3.5 months for the whole process (course to card in hand). within a span of 10 minutes, I and my 2 references were called. Permit went from in progress to approved next day, and I had card in hand 6 days later. Overall....(and I do realize this will raise a storm...:stirthepot2::nest:)...I wasn't too upset over the timeline.

OK...FLAME AWAY...I'M READY ovrec
