I am originally from south africa. I hunted there some yrs ago. Last in 1998. I used a sako 30-06.
Last year i re-started hunting in saskatchewan where i now live. I got a white tailed deer. Also started fishing.
Have been drawn for an antlerless elk (northern forest area) and an antlerless mule deer in the south west of sk.
I therefore bought a remington 750 semi auto in 35 whelen for the elk hunt.
I want to reload for this but find difficulty getting dies and bullets. I have got empty shells from wholesale sports - do you perhaps know where i can purchase these?.
Also. Do you think the whelen is a good choice?

.35 Whelen will do just fine for elk. Never used one personally, but it has an excellent reputation.

Hornady, Lee and RCBS are all listed as making .35 Whelen dies. You may have to special-order, but they are out there.

As to bullets, all of the major bulletsmiths make bullets that will work.

Hello and welcome. The .35 Whelen will be good. As was written above, Lee can provide loading gear (as of course can some other companies). I've used Lee dies for many years and found them quite satisfactory. I don't know where you can buy empty casings and Lee dies, but if you look at the websites of some of the sponsors from the top of the page, you might find some. Unless you shoot them very frequently, you can reuse the casings you fire quite a few times. Enjoy the site.
