Just in time for TFB’s Gun Fest 2021 KelTec has dropped an interesting new pistol into the firearms market with the KelTec P50. The P50 is a unique looking pistol chambered in the 5.7×28mm cartridge and uses genuine FN P90 magazines, although in the P50 the magazines feed upside down! The KelTec P50 pistol will begin shipping in the first quarter of 2021 and will be sold for $995 MSRP.

It doesn’t come with a white Ferrari and salmon blazer, however it does come with some other amazing features including two 50-round magazines. This 5.7 chambered handgun is sure to gather props from your buddies and range rats alike.

ADAPTABLE
Although the P50 is a large format handgun, with some sling creativity, controlling this pistol allows for better efficiency downrange for varmint hunters and bullseye shooters alike.

DYNAMIC
The 5.7 cartridge comes in several variants from sporting to hunting to serious personal defense. Protective details around the world utilize its efficiency while sport shooters and hunters love the cartridge for its accuracy and distance capabilities.

FIREPOWER
We would be remiss if we didn’t mention the firepower this pistol offers. The P50 platform is based around the FN P90 50-round magazines and this beast comes with two of them.

To me, the P50 presents a fresh and somewhat futuristic look with its odd magazine configuration. Based around the iconic P90 magazine its action is unique in that the barrel lifts out of the way in order for the magazine to be loaded but this also has the benefit of making the overall package quite compact. With the rail space at the top being mounted to the “upper” I think accuracy will be able to be maintained out to a decent distance.

Another thing I noticed about the P50 is the odd curved cut in the bottom part of the frame in front of the trigger guard. This seems like the perfect space for some sort of wire stock to snap into if one were to find a way to get a stock mounted to this pistol for a potential SBR build. Or perhaps a thumb groove.

Overall I am excited to see how this new KelTec offering works out and hope to get my hands on one soon for testing and evaluation. What are your thoughts?

Say what you want about KelTec but my goodness do they think outside the box when they decide to make something. I think that's cool as hell. If they sold it with a stock, I'd be tempted to buy one as a silly, unnecessary range toy 5 round mag limits be damned.

FN brought theirs out first followed by Ruger last year. Now Keltec.
It's a neat little cartridge but expensive to buy.
My guess is that S&W, Colt, Glock, & CZ will let the 3 makers dominate this niche market & not offer a pistol.

I don't think that would work? I think It would have to be a proprietary magazine design for that. Because these are designed to use an existing magazine even if Keltec made their own copy of that mag it would still be considered designed for a p90 and limited to 5.

I just can't get over how "plasticy" keltecs feel. Unless you already own a p90 this thing seems kind of pointless. Expensive ammo/mags and why not just get a ruger 57? 5 more rounds and half the size. 50 rounds in the us market will for sure make it desirable. I can't see many being sold here.

Agreed. Due to our magazine laws this gun has virtually no appeal. 3lb handgun limited to 5 rounds of a high speed 22cal? Lolno.

Yeah if we could somehow get normal capacity magazines, this would be a fun range toy for the laughs. It looks like it belongs on the set of Star Wars or something. But I don't see much point bringing them in if they're going to have 5rd magazines.
