IPSC Belt setup (with pics)

For your BB course I wouldn't worry too much about equipment placement, they should cover that. The main thing is to keep everything behind your hips. Other than that, have fun and be safe.

You'll probably adjust it a few times as you play the game of IPSC. Your holster obviously goes strong hand side, no further forward that your hip bone, and it cannot be canted so much that the barrel would be pointing more than 1m in front of or behind your feet when standing relaxed (since you could sweep someone with your draw). Magazine pouches would start on the opposite side, also no further forward than your hip bone (this can change depending on which division you'll shoot in, but for now I'm assuming production to start). You need to play with the angle of the mag pouches (if adjustable), which you may set differently for each one as it goes from front to back around your waist (it can get awkward getting to the back ones). Magazines should be stored bullets forward (or possibly out, if that's your thing). Make sure everything is snug enough that nothing will bounce out if you run or jump, but not so tight you cannot get the pistol or magazines out quickly.

I would have the pistol holster at on the side of hand that you shoot with and 5-6 mag pouches on the opposite side starting at the hip going around towards your back. The rules state where you can legally mount it and don't count on your BB instructor saying anything about placement. At my first match, as soon as the MD saw me, he pointed out my holster and mags were too far forward and if I started like that, it would be a DQ so I had to pull everything back. Look at the appendix. I think its appendix D2 to be more exact.

LOL................I sure hope you are not one of my students!!

I always attempt to make sure that their equpiment meets the requirements for the pistol that they are shooting. If it does not then I tell them that they are doing their course in "Open Division".

I would also point out that you are incorrect in your belief that you would be DQ'd for incorrect equipment position. That is not true. You would just be moved to Open Division.

Sorry yes, he did say DQ at first but then said I would be moved to open. It's been a few weeks since it happened.

Thanks, everyone. I just want to make sure I set up the belt well ahead of the course to get the most out of it. I did not know about the rule with the belt pouches forward of the hip.

Depends.
If you are an RO from BC, you wait till after the course of fire and screw the competitor over.

Just to make one thing clear, it's behind the hip, not infront of the hip.

As an RO from BC, I take exception to that remark. We have many competent and effective officials, just as I'm sure your section has many incompetent and ineffective officials. Don't make sweeping generalizations about an entire other organization based on your experience with one person.

Here is mine for reference. I had an AR pouch because of 3gun so image it's not there. I have a stinger holster 3 Ghost double stack pouches and 2 magnetic pouches. So far it works for me.

Here's my current rig,

Strong side holster (CR SPEED) Fits my Shadow and my Shadow 2 without any adjustment needed.
4 CR speed mag pouches. 1 magnet on the front of the first pouch.
A second magnet on the back large enough to hold 3 mags, but I generally only carry 2 there.

And a buttload of extra mags, because there's no such thing as too many mags!
