IPSC black badge in southern Ontario?

I guess I will just keep trolling the IPSC website.. I feel like most clubs don't advertise them on that website though

From speaking to a couple folks, it seems that's the way. No wonder it's taken me over a year to get into a course. It's either I see one posted on the IPSC site or at the club and it's already filled up or the date conflicts with my sched.

exactly my issue.. I have been trying for almost a year now... so frustrating.. I have all the gear, 4,000 rounds down the handgun, I am ready to do it hah

Rather than trolling the website, look at the calendar, get out to a few matches, introduce yourself to the match directors who are usually the club reps and maybe get on a waiting list for a course. Sometimes getting a course is not convenient.

Does your home club have an IPSC section? If so, then talk to other club members and see if there are enough people interested in getting their BB's as well. If you can get 8-10 people ready and willing to make the commitment then you can approach the club IPSC rep and have him get the ball rolling on arranging a course. Most clubs will only hold a course if their members request one. For a club to shut down a range for a weekend for 10 or so members can be a tough sell - for 10 or so non-members, it's just not going to happen. Any club that advertises open spots for a BB course is doing so only because they couldn't get enough club members to fill the course instructors max student limit. If the instructor feel 10 students is his max and the club in question only has 8 people interested then the remaining 2 spots will be open for non club members. They will fill instantly with names from the waiting list.

Sometime you've just got to take the bull by the horns and start getting things going yourself! Talk to your club IPSC rep. If you don't have one then talk to your Board of Directors at your club and see if you can talk them into hosting a course for club members. Waiting for your name to come up from the waiting list can be an exercise in frustation.

Wrapped up day 1 of my Black Badge course this weekend. HOLY crud! I wish I'd done this YEARS ago! Lots of fun but lots of info to soak in and I didn't realize how much skills these guys have until now, it's a bit of an eye opener. Looked a lot easier on videos until you attempt it yourself. :p

Exactly this. If you can't find a course, host a course. Easier said than done, but it may be the best way to get it accomplished. If your club doesn't have an IPSC rep, nominate yourself, start building a course full of students and IPSC will get you in touch with an instructor.

How did the rest of it go? Did you get your provisional card?

Second day was all day shooting and trying to soak in even more info. But it was a lot of fun shoots. Definitely need to work on my cadence. It's one thing to shoot for time but everything goes out the door when you have to beat the clock.

We've got one more day for the course to do the written exam and some more range time for more qualification shoots next Sunday. They're LONG days but it goes by real fast. When I get home, I'm physically and mentally fatigued but in a good way. If I pass next week, I shoul have my provisional card and looking to doing my first level 1 shoot to get my badge. :)

You know what really sucks my course in June was only 12 people, it was fully booked and 4 people cancelled last minute! One kid even showed up, but without a gun or any gear, argued with his girlfriend over not wanting to wait for him, and left.

The instructor was pissed off, because that was 4 spots that could have went to someone like you. Hew didn't care about the money as there are no refunds, but he was just really disappointed that they wasted 4 possible new member spots...

That's frustrating... Thankfully I found a course for September! Finally I can put my gear to good use!
