I'm going to be doing my black badge this summer and hopefully shooting some matches as well.
I have a CZ 75 Sp01 shadow and I would like to upgrade to thinner (aluminum) grips.
What are the best grips you can suggest? (Grip wise)

Also, besides the grips themselves, where can you legally add grip tape to the frame of the pistol?

The CZ aluminium grips can be had in various thicknesses so it comes down to personal preference.
VZ also makes some nice ones with a bit of contour like the CZ wood grips which are a bit smaller than the stock rubber ones.
For the tape boundaries, go to the optics website and check Appendix E3a for the boundaries for production division.

I use thin aluminum grips from CZ because I have small hands and need a bit of help reaching the mag release but if this wasn't the case, I'd stick with the standard grips...they really are excellent.

i find the aluminum grips slippery and flat. Even with the addition of grip tape I'd prefer the contouring of the standard grips.

Thanks. Going to try the DAA ones, fast toys has some.
I may experiment with grip tape possibly after I get them installed

The DAA comes with grip tape, put it on, it works great, especially shooting in the rain or sweaty hands. I put a full piece on the left side and the DAA tape on the right side.
Welcome to the game. Brian Enos's book Beyond fundamentals and Ben Stoegers practical pistol books are a great resource.

Not to hijack, to the guys with experiance withVZ grips, which are grippier the Diamondbacks or the Frags? The Diamondbacks look more aggressive but the Frags look pretty good

Diamondbacks are more aggressive than Frag but not much (IMHO). I had Diamondbacks but I would rate then closer to medium than aggressive. I then switched to #####s which I found even gripper than Diamondback. I guess it depends on how soft your hands are.

I got the DAA ones and have about 500 rounds shooting them now. I love the grips, they allow a bit higher grip for me, now I just feel like the safety is in the way...
