IPSC holster for HK USP?

Hi CGNers,

I’ll hopefully be taking the course to get my black badge shortly, then getting into IPSC and maybe IDPA shooting. I’ve got an HK USP in 9mm and I need a holster - I’ve had CR Speed holsters recommended to me. Any other recommendations?
 
The BladeTech DOH holsters are very good for IPSC Production guns (and legal for both USPSA and I believe IDPA, whereas the CR Speed isn't)...plus you'd only be ever-so-slightly "faster" with a CR Speed (especially when starting out in IPSC), even though they are excellent 'race' holsters.
 
I use a BladeTech for a my USP and a CR Speed for my Glock. I can't tell the difference. As for the savings in speed, like most of us you probably have bigger time savings to worry about then a 0.1 second loss on your draw due to your holster. For half the price, go with the BladeTech.

The holsters are simply awesome and he is very prompt with deliveries even up here in Canada. He is very busy, but if you specify a date by which you need to holster, he is very good about hitting it. When you order, also mention that you are an IPSC shooter and what type of belt you intend to use.

You can specify various options for retention. For competition, I find the "pointman" retention the best. The gun is held in so well, that you can take a tumble down a hill and not lose it, but when you want to draw, it's slick and there is no fighting with the holster at all. It's hard to describe how good his stuff is.

Most of the top shooters in the IPSC and USPSA production division are using Chris' work.

As a hint, take a cloth with Armor All and wipe the inside of the holster. It helps a lot.

I use a Galco combat master for mine in IPSC.. nice and comfortable. Who cares if it is maybe .0003 seconds slower... Open race holsters are great, unless they drop your gun.
 
I'm assuming that you have a full sized USP, the Uncle Mikes compact holster is easily modified to hold the full sized USP and is a cheap place to start. I took one while waiting for another holster to come in and dremelled out the muzzle end.
 
DOH bladetech with a speedcut in the front.
Not really any slower than a Speedsec "Open style" holster, but mroe secure and not locking mechanism to worry about. + half the price of a race hoslter!
