Hello to all the shooters

I am new into this sport and planning to try IDPA and maybe looking into black badge course for IPSC. I bought a used CZ75 SP-01 Shadow and previous owner has changed a short trigger, am I still qualifier for any this events??

Thanks

The shadow is fine for IPSC and in October the new IDPA rules will allow it for SSP class as well. If the trigger was changed it may change the class that you can compete in, but should still be OK. ( it is more likely he changed the springs, and that is OK without having to change class)

In IPSC if you use your sp01 you'll be shooting in standard. Which IMO will put your gun at a disadvantage.

Put a stock trigger and you'll be shooting in production

The black badge course you can use whatever handgun you want as long as it's bigger then a .22

Thanks Harley1 and GQBalla

He actually change the CZ custom trigger, I know nothing about IDPA and IPSC class/ rules sorry guys. I love the short trigger but I would love to compete as well :)

No problem with your gun as it is for IPSC, it will just put you in Standard class instead of Production (not really a problem, IMO). Don't worry about it, just use it as is. If it turns out that you really like IPSC shooting, you may want to return it to "Production" format in order to be more competitive. Or you might not care. :)

Not sure about where you'd land in IDPA.

That's not entirely true. You need to have a minimum first pull trigger weight of 2.27 KG. There is no restriction of what type of action that required trigger weight is from.
That's not entirely true either. Show up with a 2.28kg trigger pull SA-only 1911 or Tanfoglio / CZ trying to shoot production and you'll very quickly find out how much advantage the true raceguns in Open division have. ('cause you'll be with 'em. :()

For simple clarity - let's just go to the rule book under "Production Divison"

14. Only handguns listed as approved on the IPSC website may be used in Production Division. Note that handguns
deemed by IPSC to be single-action-only are expressly prohibited.

15. Handguns with external hammers must be fully decocked (see Rule 8.1.2.5), at the start signal. First shot
attempted must be double action. Competitors in this Division who, after the issuance of the start signal and
prior to attempting the first shot, #### the hammer on a handgun which has a loaded chamber, will incur one
procedural penalty per occurrence. Note that a procedural penalty will not be assessed in respect of courses of
fire where the ready condition requires the competitor to prepare the handgun with an empty chamber. In these
cases, the competitor may fire the first shot single action.

Official IPSC Production gun list: http://www.ipsc.org/rules/proddiv.php

Also, you cannot remove the firing pin block safety and remain in IPSC Production.

The SP-01 Shadow doesn't have a firing pin block. As is the gun would shoot in IDPA ESP Division and be quite competitive. Re-install the DA/SA trigger, returning the gun to stock form and it can play in either IDPA SSP or ESP at the shooters option as of Oct. 1.

Take Care

Bob

Hmm cool I never realized that part of the rules guess my memory skipped commiting that when I was reading it for my BB. Maybe cause I'm shooting classic I kinda glossed over the Production appendix. Thanks!
