Hey..

Plinker66, Silentrunner1 and I spent the day working on more IPSC props for EESA.

We had a hell of a productive day and it got me wondering what other clubs have in the way of inventory.

EESA being relatively new to hosting matches is still building a stable of props.

Today we finished off 16 mini classic peppers and 21 plates.

This brings our total to

21 mini classic poppers
60 plates
5 tall plate stands.
3 Classic Pepper poppers ( 9 more in production)
1 swinger
10 Clay target holders

To this I plan on adding a Mover ( teeter totter) as well as some clam shells and some drop turners over the next few months. Perhaps three or four more swingers.

I am also working on new steel target stands.
We have about 30 existing ones made of steel plus some wooden ones. I want to make 30-40 more steel ones.

These are a different type of prop. One club in the Vancouver area aquired or made a large number of fence sections ,similar to what is put around construction sites. The frames a covered with coloured plastic mesh , the mesh allows spectators to see the targets on the other side but there is enough material and colour difference there that the shooter knows it is considered a solid wall. Much nicer that a wall of plywood that the shooter disappears behind .

Thompson Mountain pioneered those walls, it's great. It allows you to see what's going on when someone is shooting. It's not such a big deal for the shooter, but for spectators, it adds a new level to the game.

Storm, only 3 standard poppers? wow that's backwards from most clubs out here, they have a ton of poppers but not many mini's. I like your idea there though as mini's are a harder target.
now what's with the clay pigeon holders? those aren't approved IPSC targets are they?

Clay pigeons are approved for shotgun matches. We use them for IPSC three gun matches all the time. They stand clay pigeons about 4 feet off the ground.

I modded the classic poppers from rearward falling pepper poppers. That is why there are so few of them. Then I had the program for the minis into the Laser so it was easier to pump them out.

I have 9 more full sized poppers out being cut right now. They will be ready on Monday. That is why the three of us finished off the 16 minis today.

As to walls. I want to try some agricultural shade material to make out next generation of walls. Our current walls are made of mahogany and 2x4 frames. We have about 10 4ft by 8 ft walls now.

I want to make about 20 of the ones that you can see through.

It can. We spike them down, or put weights on them to keep them from blowing over in a stiff wind. One downside to them is that they are light weight (very easy to move) which means you can't run into them and use their mass to slow you down or lean into them.

yeah cuz HungryBeagle is such a heavy weight he needs those heavy walls to slow him down. ;) I've seen him almost blow away in a light breeze for gods sake! I should chop off a layer of fat and make an anchor for him............

The walls up at Thompson are great, cuz it can also help you to not forget a target that's tucked in behind a corner or something, as you can see it when you are running up and stuff. Although good match directors like HB can still hide things on you, for you to forget.

Heh, I've always wanted to set up a "surprise" stage that had a target (like a pepper popper) visible through the walls, but not actually visible from any shooting position.

I just want to see a shooter running back and forth trying to figure out which position they missed. :D

Or you can be like me at my first match on Saturday, wondering why I have bullets left when I should have run out. I watched myself on video last night, went past target on 2 separate occasions while reloading, will have to get a longer leg to kick myself with. But it was a lot of fun and everyone there was quite supportive and gave lots of advice.

I have 2 full size, 3 mini poppers, 20 plates and 7 "C" zone steel targets that I use for practice. I think I will build a Texas Star next.

oh ohter props you need?

ok, double swingers, fast ones, behind metal no shoot targets, like what we saw in Ecuador. Rising and falling targets, again with no shoots in front of them.
Any movers you make should be fast, otherwise it's too easy. How fast is fast? well if guys that typically win matches look at them and say "whoah those are fast" then you've got the right speed. if they look at them, laugh and get two nice A's? that's too slow.
you guys in ontario sure are screwed, we use steel stands out here for all sorts of stuff. Our CFO is smart enough to know that they aren't an issue.

Well you can get yourself a few doorways that you have to open before you shoot. Another cool idea I thought of was a motorized garage door. Push the button and it goes up. Drop prone and you can hit targets faster than waiting for it to go up. Maybe hide some targets behind cover so you have to shoot them standing?

Clamshell targets were my bane last season, they added a great deal of intimidation to otherwise fairly easy stages.

CRIPES...  not those f*cking things again...

you forgot to mention that they ##### crossed (swung in opposite directions) they actually overlapped each other going in opposite directions when they were behind the steel no shoot

You could paint the rest of your steel black, so they can't be seen in your indoor range - like the ones you used at 'beach blanket bingo II' :D:D:D

John me and you are going to get along great. What about steel metric target with the A zone cut out you put in front of targets so you only have the a zone to shoot at.
