IPSC Rifle Requirements

Shoot what you want for fun but if you want to be competitive serbinator has the scoop. Some folks do OK with red-dots but on longer-range stages with IPSC mini-targets or frangibles the red-dots are less competitive.
If you're using Beowulf mags, you need at least 3 mags but 4 are better. Bigger stages can be 40 rounds minimum and you're likely going to use more than the minimum rounds.
To keep the mags a chest rig is OK but belt mounted mag pouches seem a little faster. Also, make sure you have a chamber flag for the match.

It will spell out the different divisions and the configuration of your rifle in order to compete in that division.
There are different divisions for optics and irons, semi and manual action etc.
As far as magazine limits, we are limited by Canadian firearm laws.
