I am still fairly new to IPSC and want to design a few new stages for a club match. Does anyone have some good links to stage designs? Also what do you like or don't like in a stage? Thanks Jed

I don't like "8 rounds from here....run run run...8 rounds from here....run run run 8 rounds from here".

I like 2 run 4 run 4 run 6 run 4.

If you are going to design IPSC courses then use Google Sketchup. It's free and you can make everything to scale. Very cool. Here's a couple of courses that I did in just a few minutes of downloading the program. Sketchup is free too. When you are designing the course it's all 3D. You can move around like a ghost, look at everything from any angle etc. Fantastic program.

You can print them out from different angles too so it's easier for your helpers to set it up. Take overhead shots with tape measurements inscribed, even angles.

These two are the same as the top ones, just different angles.

With Google Sketchup do you have down load different programs for the targets and props?

Well, sort of.

You can download the models from their 3d warehouse, and then you save them on your computer, but you just import them into the program whenever you want to use them.

Files can be saved. It has a relatively steep learning curve, but once you get used to some of the ideas and learn some of the tricks, it gets easier.

I spent an hour with one of the old, computer illiterate people out here and he was able to monkey around with it building simple stages.
