Irish Contract Enfields

There are no specific markings on the No. 4 Mk. 2 rifles.
They were made on contract for the Irish Republic, then the deal fell through. The rifles were retained by the UK. The rifles never went to Ireland. They are exactly the same as any other late Fazakerley Mk. 2 rifle. The only way to tell if the rifle is one of the batch is from the serial number. IIRC they were made 1955.

With a trained eye Irish contract rifles are very easy to pick out.

The actual "Irish Contract" rifles are only in this serial number range: PF309348-PF359347. All others are not true Irish Contract rifles, although all late production Fazakerly rifles with blond wood get lumped into this category for whatever reason. I wouldn't pay more or less for one in this production range, all else being equal.
