I zero'd my 20" AR15 with iron sights at 25 yards with 55grain Remington UMC.

At 50 yards it shoots approximately 5" high.

At 100 yards it shoots approximately 9" high.

At 200 yards it shoots approximately 16" high.

Does this seem about right and I should start remembering the hold offs?

Or should I adjust the front post?

You're going to think that I'm being a smart ass (and I am) but you obviously don't know what zeroing your rifle means.

What you have done is shot groups at different ranges. Don't know what the specs are on your rifle and what kinds of groups you're getting but something isn't adding up.

If you're shooting 5" high at 50m then you should also be around 5" high at 200m.

And yes, move the front sight post. I'd personally zero it at 50m, point of impact should be the same at 200m and approx 8" low at 300m. Figure out what's wrong first though.

"Leg" is correct, for best results (at most ranges) with an 5.56 AR variant, you should zero your iron sights at 50m.

If you get a chance to watch the Magpul carbine video it gives you a basic guide on how to zero with irons and optics for the usual 50 and 200. It discusses point of impact shifts and height over bore for close stuff to.

You can go to winchester.com they have a ballistics calculator on thier site. Play around with it to see what range you want to zero you rifle at. Or just zero it at 50m, thats what I did.

Zeroing

Kevin B put up a nice diagram on the line of sight and the bullet's trajectory. This is going to change slightly depending upon the barrel length and the type of bullet you are using.

I like to zero my C7 at 54m so my POA/POI is the same at 200m. This gives me a good battle zero. You can also zero POA/POI at 34m and this will give you POA/POI at 300m.

For CQB, zeroing at 54m will give you a lower culminating point at the close range as compared to a 4" difference in the highest point with a 300m zero.

Important thing for you to know is where you group at different ranges without changing your point of aim. Then you can progress and change your POA when required (at ranges further than 300m). Remember barrel sight relationship at close ranges.

I am not even going to bother to get into shooting downhill or uphill or from a platform, LOL.
