My Ruger RPR just came in. This is one of the coolest bolt actions I have ever owned. I was thinking of putting some backup front/ rear iron sights on it, just for a cool factor. Just like you would on a AR.

Are there any Iron sights made for a 308 rifle? I know magpul and a few others make em for .223 / 556 AR's.

Magpul MBUS, Magpul MBUS PRO (with LR rear), Magpul MBUS PRO 45° Offset, Troy folding Battle Sights, KAC 2-600m rear + KAC front, KAC 45° offset sight set, any of these and others work.

I prefer KAC with the 2-600m rear, it's what I use on my Modern Hunter, along with a KAC M4 front.

I guess to specifically answer your question; no there are no specific .308 picatinny sights.

Wow, that's some serious kit you have there!

To the OP, I had thought of doing the same when I was thinking about buying a RPR. Check some of the reviews though, several show the front rail not being parallel with the barrel, so much so that you might not be able to zero your irons.

This was my initial though, it would seem next to impossible to have a perfectly parallel rail. I looked at more then a few in person. None are dead center, some are so off its off putting to look at.

Drop an optic on it and call it a day, I was toying with the idea of a red dot for deer season in the tight brush.

I'm sticking with my Leupold glass clamped down with ARMS22 rings!

I would love the idea with irons sights but it's been suggested to go with Magpul BUIS setup since that would be the easiest to install. :)

Cheers and bring on the ideas!

You should make a newb percision rifle course.

I just got in this sport, don't even know which scope to get, how to zero etc. SFP vs FFP, Mil vs MOA. My head is spinning.

I am sure, alot of people will turn out.

ha ha ha It's all good. We've been running PR Courses/ clinics and now matches up in Garrison Petawawa aimed directly at/for the newbies (I taught grade niners for 3 decades). This season we have a series of matches for many of my clients who have progressed right into the matches, but the Saturday practice is targeted for newbies to show up and obtain their data/dope/come ups. Then on Sunday, we dive straight into the matches.

Okay, enough of the hijacking on this thread. Back to the iron sight discussion for the RPR!

And yes, I do bring my AI Ax .308 to the matches for people to sample (just bring your own .308 match ammo!)

Cheers,
