Is 30.06 = 7.62x54

Good day all. Is 30.06 = 7.62x54? I am looking for some surplus ammo to shoot in my Garand that is chambered 30.06 and it is my understanding that 7.62x54 is the metric equivalent. I have seen the 7.62x54r available at Districorp.

The metric name for .30-06 is 7.62x63. 7.62x54R is quite different.

7.62x54R is the 7.62 russian. It is a rimmed cartridge similar in appearance to a 303 British.

the 30-06 is on the right, and the 7.62X54r is on the left. If you find any surpluss 30-06 please let me know too!
