Is 45-70 too much for Deer

It's certainly not "too much for deer". Will it be too dead?

The more important question is "Is it too much for you?"

No such thing as to much gun, as others have said way less meat damage with a heavy bullet going 1800-2200 fps than a light (130-180gr) bullet going 3000 fps. Either way the animal is dead if you hit it in the boiler room.

Just picked up some Hornady LE Ammo for my 1895GG and noticed that I have to Cycle the lever quite a bit harder to Jack a Shell into the chamber; has anyone else found this happenning. Remington and Winchester Cycle fine. Haven`t been out to test the Hornady LE`s yet. Soon I hope.
