Is A .243 Too Small To Take Down Large Game.

I think we are forgetting that in his original post he mentioned he already owns a 30.06 and wants a 243 for deer only

I HAVE A 30-06 FOR LARGE GAME BUT MIGHT LIKE THE NEW GUN SO MUCH I WANT TO USE IT FOR BIG GAME AS WELL. WOULD I BE GOING INTO UNCHARTED TERRITORY SHOOTING BIG GAME WITH A .243.

so he has a .30-06 but is asking if the .243 can also fill the .30-06's role. IMO it makes about as much sense as owning both a pickup truck and a subcompact hatchback, and then asking if you can use the hatchback to off-road around your cottage

Plaese shut off your caps lock. The .243 with suitable bullets(100 grains and up perferably. Nothing under 85 grains for deer sized game and only bullet made for that sized game.) is good for deer sized game, black bear and nothing bigger. It's too light for elk or moose under any circumstances.
