After all of this painful prohibiting from the Government, is it still possible to build a "Designated Marksman Rifle" in Canada? I know the AR-180 platform is legal, but from what little I've read it might not be available in 308/6.5 Creed, and no one makes a reliable 180, yet.

Is there a Canadian legal rifle that would make a good DMR platform?

There's the Bren 2 DMR in 308 that North Sylva was teasing at their TACCOM booth. Maybe it'll make it into our market. But I got to hold their sample!

Unknown ETA, but Raven is supposed to release a .308 magwell for their DI-ish rifle. Is their enough room in the current DI upper for a heavier bolt and a bug enough ejection port for .308? Or would a new complete upper be required?

B&T APC 308. Or maybe even the M1 Garand although then you'll have to get a little creative with either an offset or long eye relief optic or making it mag fed. I've also seen people try to make DMR's out of Tavor 7's but they seem to lack a bit on accuracy for that.

Pretty much everyone summed it out, there isn't a lot of option, at a "low price".
You have options with wood stock/hunting variants such as:
  1. Remington 742
  2. Browning Bar
  3. Benelli R1
  4. FN FNAR
  5. M1 Garand 308
  6. Valmet Hunter 308
  7. HK Sl7
For more tacticool options, where you want to mount lights, bipods, optics:

  1. APC 308
  2. Keltec RFB
  3. Famae SG-542
  4. Tavor 7
  5. Crusader Arms Crux 308
  6. Bren 2 308 (Not available yet)
  7. Raven 308 (Not available yet)
  8. ATRS Modern Hunter (Gray Area)

Honestly, I had similar dilemma a few months back, no matter what you are looking for, prepare to pay a pretty penny. Your best bet to scratch the itch right now will probably be an APC 308 for the quality, but shes a heavy one, or a nice M1 Garand 308. The APC 308 is indeed nice, just don't know if I can still justify the $4000 šŸ˜‚

BCL announced their Grizzly in .308 and 6.5CM at Taccom, sales are supposed to start in a couple months at less than $2k MSRP.
