I am looking at purchasing a colt lightning in 38-40, 20in barrel, and I was wondering if it falls in the antique category no PAL required category in Canada. According to the serial number, it would have been manufactured in 1891.

a- by calibre....edit; me bad, the 38-40 would be ok because it's larger than the 8.3 mm minimum for antique rifles.

The big thing is that it is chambered for a currently available cartridge albeit not an easy one to find but currently available
