Is a GSG 1911 .22 conversion kit compatible with a Norinco 1911?

I was planning on buying a Norinco 1911. I am wondering if the gsg 1911 .22 convertion kit will work with this gun as it seems like it should but i have heard that it might not and you will have to do some minor fitting for it. Does anyone have any experience with this?

There's been other posts on this. My recollection is that it is NOT compatible without some gunsmith work. Search out the threads. I believe there is a fellow that made it work but it took some effort.

I've done it using a Norc 1911A1 Sport and the GSG Conversion. The bottom of the slide had to be sanded to fit into the rail on the frame. Just took some 180 & 1500 sandpaper and a few minutes to remove enough aluminum to slide on. Other than that, no issues with mags or any controls.

The GSG slide fit onto my Colt frame before the sanding, so there must be a small difference in the rails.

I'll post some pictures if you want.

Cheers,

GSG on Norc Pics

Here's the GSG .22 kit on my Norc 1911 frame. It didn't take long to sand the slide and get the fit nice and smooth.

You can see where I sanded the bottom of the slide to fit the Norc rail. There's been a tiny bit of wear near the front of the slide since I sanded it.

The slide locks back on an empty mag.

Mag inserted. Mags drop freely.

I don't have any regrets going this route, although it's not a lot cheaper than buying an entire GSG pistol. This does keep the number of frame modifications (trigger pull, grips) to a minimum, though.

AFAIK, only Sporteque in Drummondville has them in stock.

Blue Line Activities is the importer for GSG, and SFRC lists them on their website, but are out of stock.

If the uppers are priced around the $300. range, might as well pony up the diff and buy the full dedicated .22LR 1911 for $379 from Wolverine.
