Do any of you guys know if the factory Remington 30 round magazine made for the 597 Remington 22 rifle falls under the prohibited classification. I am to understand that they are not but was aware that the Butler Creek 25 round mags for the Ruger are possibly prohibited. Thanks for any info on the subject. David.

There's no 597 pistol to force a cap at 10, so knock your socks off. (...For now, because we all know they're coming for them eventually) Promag even has a 70 rd drum mags out there for the 597.

Local crappy tire has thrm in stock ,also 25 round mags for savage semi .22 .just the 10/22 clips are so called illegal.I still use mine I bought at canadian tire and since handguns are banned now we should have no problems with these mags.Ive never had any problems ,if I were ever charged for using one Id fight it and see where it goes.i don't think they are actually banned as much as the rcmp likes to toot that horn

To my knowledge no one has ever been convicted of using a high capacity 10/22 mag since the RCMP deemed them illegal. There was a guy a couple of years ago who was charged but made it known he intended to challenge the charge in court (CSSA might have been backing him?) and the RCMP dropped the charges.
Considering that it would be quite easy to prove that the high-cap 10/22 mags existed as rifle-only mags long before the Charge pistol made an appearance would make it very difficult for the crown to get a conviction and the RCMP does not want a court ruling against their determination about the mags being 10 rounds only.

Handguns aren't banned though. They're still legal to own and use, and their mag limits still apply.

But as ted_dent points out there is no public knowledge of a person being charged and that charge actually going anywhere. In fact officers were specifically told they were not to press charges unless other charges were also being laid.

In keeping with that line of thought, couldn't anyone with a 3-d printer make the same adapter to fit the 597 mag into a charger pistol?this isw here things make no sense, lol.

so many laws/rules make no sense.

I don't own a 10-22 nor charger but if mags fit both why would the 597 to 10-22 adapter not fit in the charger straight away?
