I am still on the hunt for a trap gun and I came across a Beretta Gardone VT O/U S58S Skeet with a 28 inch barrel, it's a 1970ish vintage. I would like to know if both chokes are fixed and how do you tell, also I would like to know what the gun is worth, this gun looks to be in good shape and I will shoot it on wednesday night. Any help on this would be very appreciated.

Although both can be shot with the same gun, two different guns are normally used. To do both with one gun, you are best to have a field gun with a 28" barrel and interchangeable chokes.

A gun either has fixed chokes or interchangeable chokes. You can easily tell just by looking at them. But for 1970ish gun, it is more than likely fixed chokes.

Skeet choke is slightly more open than improved cylinder. Trap is usually shot with a tighter choke, normally modified at the least.
