iv had a tasco red dot on my ruger sr 10/22 for like 7 years. still works, holds zero.... as best as a fuzzy dot can.. its by no means a top tier, or even a mid grade optic, but for a just for laughs plinking gun iv got no real complaints
I bought one... it's sure a large dot on full bright. At over 100 yards the dot pretty well entirely covers up a printer paper sized target. Turning it down on power level shrinks the dot size slightly. It's ok for a gong at 100 yards but it's a 50 yard scope if you want accuracy tight enough for gophers or groupings or whatnot. I was shooting CCI minimags 36 grain and Remington Golden Bullets bulk 36 grain... same results from the good and the cheap.
I have several on various .22's. Work okay for me. I'm not going to the Olympics this year (or any year).
Last one I bought at a gun show for $30.
I carry spare el cheapo batteries in my 10/22 takedown bag, as most likely I will forget to turn off the dot, so no use buying an expensive one. Dollar store specials.
