Is a Webley Mk II with a shortened 2" barrel still an antique?

Armalytics only lists the standard manufacturer barrel lengths. I’ve seen them sold before up here though. I can’t see it being any different than a derringer in 41 rimfire…? But I use common sense and that doesn’t necessarily match this governments interpretation. I’ll let someone else chime in with more knowledge on the Webleys. Good luck! It’s a nice revolver.

Yes it is still antique. If you choose to have the RCMP lab issue an antique certificate, they will add this barrel length to the FRT.

While the mkII doesn't have a super short barrel length in the FRT as antique right now, the mkI does (23388-9 at 61mm)

Just to add, it is quite legal to shorten the barrel of an antique revolver so if you were to buy an extra upper for a webley, you could shorten the barrel and swap them at will. You could even do this to an original barrel though that would affect the collector value negatvely.

A mk VI upper will fit a mkI** or mkII* without modification and (this I have not tried but sounds reasonable ) a mkI or II with minor modifications to the upper.

Yes that is considered antique. It was a common alteration for the British navy. I've had one similar before (mine was a Mk 1) and it sold quite well at auction.

Barrel length doesn't apply to antique guns classified under the firearms act. Still antique as long as it isn't re-chambered to a no go caliber.
