Is an Elcan Spectre 1.5X6 overkill for my XCR-M....

Since i have stellar results with my XCR-M, i am looking to upgrade my optic, did a lot of reading on the Elcan spectre 1.5X6 and it look like it is the best around, any of you guys tried one... JP.

A fabulous optic - great glass, very easy to change magnifications, and while a bit heavy on it's own seems to balance well on my SR-25.
Buy once, cry once as they say but you'll never look back after that ;)

It has fantastic glass, that is for sure. Super durable optic meant to be tossed around w/o worring about it.

Just got to be ok with the fact that its non-variable, being either 1.5x or 6x but nothing in between. If you want variable in the 1.5-6x magnification, there's the very good U.S. Optics SR-6 in single ($1,300 US) or dual focal plane ($1,500 US) that weighs in at 22.4 onces. Not exactly the same configuration (compact footprint of the Elcan), but another option out of many.

If you have the strength to carry, fire and control felt recoil repeatidly, then go for it. It is a gorgeous optic for sure.
