Is BCL 102 a good hunting rifle?

Yes it's a good hunting rifle from my experience to date. Although it's a little on the heavy side compared to a lot of bolt action rifles.

I just wanna get a single rifle that is good for both target practice and hunting. 308 Win seems to be good for any kind of hunting I'll ever get to encounter.

If I were you and that’s what I wanted and knowing what I know I would buy a tikka T3 or or T3x New or used. Depending on how much I was planning on packing up this around on my back I would probably go with the CTR. If you’re into shooting small groups at targets the BCL is not for you.

I didnt even read the 50 previous posts of people bashing the bcl102 i will just give you my experience. Can you hunt with it? Hell ya my rifle is a gen 1 first run and i have had no issues with the rifle at all.
So far i have shot 3 deer one moose and a bunch of coyotes with it. I have it set up as a long range gun but have buis for the close stuff. Its not fun to carry for long walk in hunts but for hunting sets or stands its great. Because mine is one of the first there are some design issues that i belive have been addressed the main one being sharp corners on the magwell that dig in to you gut when slung.
As for accuracy mine is rebarrled in 6.5 creedmoor and at 100 im sitting at moa and at 550yd at 1.5 moa this is with cheap factory ammo as i have yet to make a load up for it. I would say i can get it to .75 moa at 100 or more realistically 1moa at 550.
There are lemonds made by bcl but there are good guns aswell. And i belive alot of the failure is from people not familiar with the ar platform not striping cleaning and lubing affter they first buy it that and useing un modified xcrm or other pistol mags.

Yes of course you could hunt with a BCL. There have been some function issues during a stretch of rifles, mine was in that batch. Contacted BCL and they quickly sent some new gas rings and extractor. Problem solved. Running like a champs.
All the people bashing them have to be realistic in their expectations! We all want guns that shoot tiny groups over and over and over with any brand of ammo or bullet weight. Again be realistic! The BCL does exactly
What it’s advertised to to and more.
I have mine shooting right around 1moa. +\- depending on the day. Handloads.
That is just as good as a lot of bolt guns.
So yes take it hunting!

Here we go again, again and again. Many people have not had any issues including myself. Personally I would not use as a hunting rifle being more in favour of a lighter, bolt action rifle.

So from your response I will assume your answer to the OP's question; Is BCL 102 a good hunting rifle?

Is in a word, No.

Early models were plagued with problems, I bought a demo model from BCL directly. No problems at all, groups well, ejects and loads no problem, haven’t had a single issue with this gun and I’m very happy with the purchase. Just my opinion, I understand others would steer you away from the BCL 102 but keep in mind early models had issues. It seems they worked out the bugs per say.

They are a garbage company that make garbage products and treat their customers like garbage. Quite frankly it doesn’t matter to me that some people have no issues with the rifle. It’s the company that’s broken. And as configured a stock BCL is a pig, so not that suited to hunting. They really marketed the rifle to the wrong crowd if you ask me.

I’d be surprised if they stay in business for another 10 yrs. Stag/CMT have been in business well over 40 years supplying some of the best names in the business. Kind of makes it a no brainer to me.

Running a business is not easy and I hope they’ve learned their lesson. Shouldn’t we give a fellow Canadian company a second chance?

I’d say this is their third chance.

incorrect...… in fact , according to their own add..... and the designation MK7...….. they have been afforded SEVEN chances by the Canadian shooting community. It's almost a comedy at this point.

Second chance? They had their second chance like 10yrs ago. And don’t give me that bull that BCL isn’t NEA. They changed the name because they had such a ####ty rep. Everything they touch is crap.
