Is bolt-action accuracy unbeatable?

Nice thing about a semi is that if the first shot is off by 1/2 moa the second one is incoming before the first one is a factor.

I think we can sum this up by dumbing it down a bit :D

A quality precision AR such as Les Baer, and the new Stag model 6 are guaranteed to shoot 1/2 moa or less. These will typically beat your hunting bolt action rifle, and even some of the more accurate off the shelf bolt action rifles.

However they won't beat a dedicated BR bolt action.

The fact that Semi autos have become so accurate is frankly amazing.

Ultimately a bolt action is more accurate. However that doesn't mean that every bolt action rifle is more accurate.

I happen to like both types of rifles. But I don't compete.
If you're competing you'll pick the best tool for the job. Depending on the type of competion that may be a bolt for BR or a semi for action style shooting, 3 position etc.

One isn't better than the other. They both have strengths and weaknesses.

Build it and it will shoot

DSC 223, build it and it will shoot. I've never had an AR out past 300 so i don't know but i've shot em out to 300, my buddy last summer placed 2nd to me in the sierra match at borden, he beat out 12 other experienced shooters with his (mine now) Rock river piece 24" 1-8 using factory federal 77gr'ers.
Another buddy I shoot with has an old Colt Sporter II , he has a second upper with a shilen target barrell on it 1-9 twist, it took me almost a year to get the perfect load for it. After someone laughed at me for posting thumb tacks as targets one day he shut up after watching me smack 3 of them with consecutive shots, (i chickened out and didn't attempt the 4th) He said it couldn't be done as well glad he was there to watch. Rifle has a cheap 32x Simmons scope and it also has a match trigger.
Load was 68 gr. HPBT Hornady's in front of 22.1 gr. of H335.... 22.1 gr. of IMR 2230 works well too.

I guess build quality is the final word in this situation. It's too bad that that precise fit is purposely avoided in all the AR's on the market. I was hoping to build an semi AR-based rifle that could compete with bolt's by removing the gas operation system.

Take a look at the Tubb 2000. It doesn't have to be a gas gun to look totally cool
