Is it just a time of year thing, or is it just an everyday issue when it comes to finding either SKS rifles, or Mosin Nagant rifles? Is it kinda touch and go when it comes to finding a shop who sells them? I'm going to be in the market for either an SKS or a Mosin Nagant as my first rifle soon. I am hoping to get my hands on one in the next month or so. Is there a place that is better to order from when it comes to said rifles? I noticed that Cabelas and Wholesale Sports carry the rifles, but it appears to be touch and go with them, and I assume it's just because they bring in limited quantities. Is there a go to supplier for these particular rifles, or would I be better off maybe going with a private purchase for one? Personally I am all for a Mosin, for the simple fact, that I am a huge bolt action fan. What are your experiences with a seller, whether it be thru a big chain store, or a specialty shop, like say one of the site sponsors. Any insight into purchasing one of these rifles would be greatly appreciated. I am keeping my eyes peeled for a deal, but if I can alleviate possible headaches, and make my rifle purchase more pleasurable, I would love to do so.

Thanks!

This is where I got mine it turned out to be a non refurbed possibly unissued i got it before they made a select grade option so i was lucky, you might be able to find better deals locally or even from other site sponsor

It's 169.99+25$ shipping + tax =202.45$ after shiping and taxes, if your were looking earlier you could of gotten the ammo+sks+free shipping deal but they are out of ammo

As for mosins they will be here shortly, feb 2013 apparently.

I got my mosin from SFRC and its an all matching 1943?... id have to check, but it was super easy and super smooth. I had it withing a week and a half of ordering it. It also came with the cosmo bottle, pouches and sling. I got it when it was on sale for ~150 bucks or so and I couldnt be happier. I also got my SKS for christmas from Wimajak? My brother got it for me so I'm not clear on the exact details but its a unissued matching numbers chinese one and also, couldnt be happier. From what I hear the transaction was smooth but seeing as I didnt do it first hand all I have to go on is his word. Hope this helps!

The best deal on an SKS is the Tradex "Select Grade" rifles IMHO.

THey claim they are the same as what others are selling as non refurbs, but others are selling them for at least $50 more!

I have one on the way as we speak, and Tradex has never disappointed me so........

I've bought only two pistol online, tt33 from tradex, wouldn't hesitate too deal with them again. Reguardless of what I was buying. I only wish you could complete credit card purchases online.

If you change your mind and want an SKS, the Canadian Tire here in town had an SKS about a week ago that's probably still there... If you want it and can't find one I'll pick it up for you and ship it to you. Just reimbuse me for the actual cost + actual shipping (and next time you're in a postition to help out a fellow CGNer, pay it forward...). I'll even send you the receipt... They were 200 bucks when I was there last.

Tradex are great people to deal with, I bought an M44, a SVT40, a Margolin target pistol, a Swede Mauser and recently, a K31 from them. They sell quality firearms at reasonable prices, I haven't been disappointed once!

I'm also in Winnipeg, and I managed to score a really clean, matched numbers, and from the looks of it, unfired/unissued 54 tula sks from wholesale sports. It is hit and miss with them though. The employees admittedly pick through the sks's and buy the good ones themselves or "reserve" them for friends. The last batch was really nice. I just happened to walk in at the right time.

So if you're bored and feel like taking a drive down there, it can't hurt. Just bring disposable gloves or something. The last sks I handled there was literally dripping with cosmoline.

For mosins, like everyone else here has been saying, the vendors on this site are top notch.
