Would it be worth it to bed a Reminton 700 SPS in .223? I am planning on sending my bolt and trigger out to ATRS to get some work done, and I see that they bed stocks too (as I know I would not be able to do a nice clean job and sloppy work peeves me).

The rifle currently sits in a HS precision stock (got rid of that crappy SPS one ASAP).

Currently I only target shoot at 2-300 meters (with plans of making a longer range in the works).

If you still have the sps you really should try at it with bedding, then move on the hs

really... do it

Loosen the 2 bottom metal screws a turn or so and see how much you can move the barrelled action around in the stock. This will demonstrate to you the fact that the action will never sit in the same place twice. most of the recoil or rearward thrust of the gun is being taken up by the action screws, rather than the recoil lug against the stock.

If you want to become a true believer in just how much proper bedding will improve a rifles accuracy, go and shoot a group or 2 with the rifle, keep the target. When you send the rifle to us for the other work, we will bed it for you, when you get it back shoot another group using the same ammo, if the rifle does not shoot better I will gladly refund the money.

This is a bet I have NEVER lost.
