Is it Canadian?

A neighbor gave me this ,it looks Canadian but I can't find anything about it. It looks like chest webbing but what was it used for .It is 14"x8" and on the back is stamped H.H.T. 5/66 and a Inspector 4 in a small square, if anyone knows what is please do tell.

Yes, it's an FNC2 mag pouch.

You could say that, the C2 being a Light Automatic Rifle version of the FAL. As the others said, it is for carrying the thirty round magazines for the C2.

FYI, when worn, the two shoulder straps would cross each other at the back. If you tried to wear it as shown in the photo the straps wouldn't stay on your shoulders. Funny thing is that this item was cursed when first introduced and now chest webbing is all the rage (second only to tactical vests).

We've come a long way since the old FN. Back then we didn't even have mag pouches for our magazines.

We were supposed to keep them in the pockets of the combat shirt,, yuck!

Best scenario was to just carry your ammo in bandoleers and reload the rifle through the top with stripper clips without removing the mag.
