Mine cracked in two places the other week. Locking lug also broke. I know that locking lug is a weak spot but I’ve never heard about cracked dust cover. Found one online post with pictures but rifle in question was a custom build and blew up after one mag. Mine just has external mods and went without a hiccup for maybe 5-6000 of rounds. On the day it broke I was last person to shoot. Fired last 4 mags without any issues, packed up and left. Racked the bolt 2-3 times before taking rifle apart and it was not fully getting into battery, maybe 1/4 gap, I could close it though by pushing forward and dust cover would not come off. I managed to wiggle dust cover off, saw that part of locking lug was “free floating inside receiver. Everything else seems to look fine. Is this just these two parts decided to fail together because they got tired or should I need to check for some other issues?
