Is it just me, or is the Tavor kind of a PITA to clean?

So I was cleaning my Tavor, all was going well till I noticed this.

There seems to be a chunk of brass wedged in there at the base of the chamber. And the only way I can think of to get rid of it is to remove the barrel. But I don't have the tool to do it. I might bring it in to work tomorrow to see if some compressed air will get it out. But other than that I have no more ideas. Any suggestions?

Yup! Getting in there is tricky. Use the thin-then-thick copper brush that came in your cleaning kit to get in there and zip it out.

For the record: you're gun looks spotless inside compared to mine!

Grind a allen key down for the tool. It took me less then a minute to do it.

I'll do that. Unfortunately all my tools are at work. I'll make one tomorrow if I get a chance.

Thanks, I'll give that a whirl.

So is it normal for the Tavor to chew brass? There was lots of brass flakes in the receiver and bolt face before I cleaned it, never mind the big chunk stuck in there.

Yeah, it aint coming out. I think its been hammered in there pretty good. It'll slide in the crease, but wont come out. I'm going to have to remove the barrel.

I've had a lot of brass in mine. Not chunks, but alotta flakes and dust. I've also had troubles with mine so I shouldn't say that is necessarily normal....

What kind of issues have you been having?

Now that's a good idea!

If you run air or oil through your bolt you'll likely find lots of brass in there too. I find it varies depending on the ammo I'm using

Yeah, that's where the majority of the brass flakes were. The only brass cased ammo my Tavor has seen is American Eagle. Yes, I know. The Tavor dosent like American Eagle, but I have a bunch of it that needs to be shot up.
