As the title said is it legal to lengthen a pistol barrel?
As strange as it seems I want to give a rim fire pistol the barrel length of a rifle. I know it will still be classified as restricted but will it be legal?

(Just to get it out of the way)
Q: "Why not buy a rifle?"
A: "This is for a planned special project; I need it to be a pistol."

Any thoughts?

Yes , You would have to register the new barrel length with the CFC .And I am not sure but maybe as well have to take it to a firearms verifier .
Call the CFC and see what they say.

I do not think you even have to worry about it. just make your barrel. call the cfc and ask if you need to re issue new cert stating that barrel is longer.. most likely no trouble at all. It only goes the other way around that is trouble.

If it doesn't change class then I too believe that a verifier is not needed.
I have bought custom made AR-15 barrels and I just called the CFC and gave them the barrel length.
