Hello CGNers,

I just built a new AR15.
Using Aero Precision upper/lower
16" Rainier arms select medcon barrel (1 in 8")
Geissele SSA-E trigger
Kinda a budget optics, bushnell AR-Optics mounted on a Burris P.E.P.R mount.
Shooting using a Harris bipod and a rear bag. I am very stable on the target and the trigger pull is light and crisp.

I have probably 300 rounds through it over three trips to the range. Every time i shoot, i shoot poorer than the last time.

First time shooting the rifle, took me 5 rounds to zero the scope. Then put 5 rounds easily sub moa @100yards. The first 4 shots were probably like 1/2 moa (4 shots, 1 hole that can be completely covered by a dime in my pocket) and then the 5th was a flier to open the group closer to 1moa (all 5 covered by a quarter). This seemed just fine to me :D

From then on its just been down hill. By the end of the first day (approx 100rds) my 3-shot group size was closer to 1.5~2moa.
Next time to the range i started at about 1.5moa and by the end of the day was shooting 3.5ish moa.
Third time to the range the targets look more like they are being shot with a shotgun. There is no pattern at all to the shots, i'm not consistently shooting one way or another. I feel great about each shot, and then am surprised when the POI is 5 inches right, second shot might be 3 inces high and to the left, followed by a 4 inches low. Just all over the place. I ended the day by shooting 15rds at the same target. The group size was probably (guesstimate) 8 inch diameter, with no pattern what so ever. No two bullets hit the same place, evenly dispersed high, low, left, and right.

I have used a variety of ammo, norino, federal, MFS, S&B match, etc in a variety of weights (55, 62, 69). They all performed about the same. My best shots were typically with 55gr ammo.

If i had to guess i would say i'm shooting worse than with my norinco CQA, I'll take it out next time with a similar setup to see what the results are.
I have checked all the typical things that i felt might cause an issue, the burris P.E.P.R is securely mounted to the rail. The scope is not moving in the rings. I even went so far as to take the FF hand guard off and check the torque on the barrel. I have re-checked the level of the reticle, and am waiting for a anti-cant device just to further eliminate any sources of error (as much as is possible).

Other than this, the rifle functions flawless and has not had a single issue, failure, or stoppage in any way.

So CGN i'm respectfully looking for your advice, do you think its just that i need to practice more (which is fine by me!) or do you think i should be hunting for a hardware issue?

I am not an expert in no way shape or form, I would say start at your pepr! I hade one and the lever seem to work themselves loose.

I would examine the scope first.. perhaps try it on another rifle and try a different optic on your firearm. Sounds like it could be that it has lost its ability to maintain zero.

is your trigger tightly installed? it could have gotten loose after the first shots.
Another issue could be your optic mount becoming lose, or your optic itself crapping out
