I was thinking about putting my brass in the dishwasher on "pot scrubber" to get rid of the black powder that is left over from tumbling. Would this be ok?

You may stain the inside of the dish washer and the residue may have lead on it and you may get it on your dishes and consume the lead. Lead is harmful to children and known to cause ###ual and other health problems .

If you get a residue left on your cases, it's time to change the media. Go to a pet supply place and buy a bag of small pet bedding. It comes as crushed corn cobs or walnut shells. Far less expensive than buying tumbler media from a gun shop. $10 to $15 will buy you a great big bag.

I agree.........don't mix it in with the Wife's dishes:redface:
What I did when I was Shooting alot of BlackPowder Cartridge Matches was I got one of those Plastic Salad spinners. I'd dump all the sooty brass in there with a bit of windshield washer fluid..........give em a good spin for a couple minutes.
Let em dry and then into the Media Tumbler for a quick shine.
Worked well and definately cut down on the amount of BP crud in my Media;)

I'm still kick'n, but it was a waste of time and energy to run the cases in the dishwasher, and yes, I do remember that I had to clean the damn thing out after, there was some kinda black oily crap on the sides.

Brain dead, but still kicking!  :dancingbanana:
